Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to deploy Qardio’s RPM solution
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to deploy Qardio Inc’s Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) solution for management of virtual ward patients.
June 7, 2021 – The Community Matron Virtual Ward Team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GWH NHS FT) is focussed on improving health outcomes, preventing serious illness, and avoiding inappropriate admissions by early detection of deterioration in patients’ conditions. The management of these patients is achieved by highly skilled nurses supported by GP’S, Geriatricians and other health and Social Care Partners. The care of acutely ill patients outside of the hospital often requires increased levels of monitoring, including the use of technology to view patients’ vital signs. The use of this assistive technology is key to early intervention and improved patient outcomes. The Virtual Ward Team have selected the Qardio RPM solution, QardioMD, to enable the delivery of this innovative service to patients.
“Having looked at a variety of technology, Qardio has the ability to monitor a number of conditions as well as detect changes in condition severity,” said Kim Hogan Community Matron, Swindon Community Health Services GWH NHS FT. “We are looking forward to working in partnership and using this technology for those patients acutely unwell in the community setting, as well as supporting early Hospital discharges at a time when primary and secondary care are under unprecedented pressure.”
“Covid-19 has placed a huge strain on the NHS and its ability to deliver clinical services to patients,” explained Marcus Barkham Executive Chairman. Qardio Inc. “The deployment of innovative care delivery like virtual wards, keeps patients connected with their caregivers and enables safe, efficient patient care where it is needed most. We are honored to be working with the Virtual Ward Team at GWH NHS FT during these testing times to enable this potentially life-saving service.”
